Waikato-Tainui College

Research

A principal goal for the College is for it to become a centre of research and development aimed at contributing to the future development of the tribe and the nation by conducting research in social, economic, cultural and environmental areas and into any research fields where such pursuits may lead.

A special focus of the College's work will be on the Waikato River that provides research into matters that will improve the health and wellbeing of the Waikato River, including the development of management practices and the gathering and preservation of Waikato-Tainui tribal histories associated with the Waikato River.

The College encourages and supports collaboration and cooperation between researchers, research organisations, tertiary institutions and recognises the importance of establishing international links and research networks.

The College values a multi-disciplinary approach with teams of like minded people working towards finding new, innovative and better ways of creating wealth and a better way of life.

The College itself is not intended as a degree conferring institution, but is able to provide both researchers and students alike, a collegial atmosphere within its facilities.
