Jonathan was motivated to complete the MBA programme to expand his knowledge on how to run his consultancy firm and increase business networks. His work experience around Maaori issues was a large motivator for him to join the Waikato MBA at the Waikato-Tainui College for Research and Development. After receiving the role of Research Manager at the College, Jonathans focus shifted towards how he can improve his contributions to the College as well as Waikato-Tainui.
Jonathan believes that the lessons learnt and how you apply them are what makes the MBA graduate stand apart.
"The MBA course is intense; there are no two ways about it. It becomes a journey where you not only learn in the classroom, but you learn about yourself” says Jonathan.
"The living and learning component was integral to our success as a class as it created a dynamic that enabled and underpinned the success of the cohort.”
It was clear to Jonathan that two key factors in succeeding in the MBA programme were time management and people management.
"Being able to manage your various commitments to employment, the community, your family and your study requires discipline, perseverance and fortitude” says Jonathan.
